Sugarcoat the Media——Sensationalized Reporting
“The Winners of Nobel Prize Have Been Announce Publicly!”
“Liu Dehua Has Been Married For Many Years!”
If you see the two titles above on the covers of two different magazines, which one would you like to take home? The latter——maybe most of people will say without waiting. Why?And the causes of sensationalized reporting are exactly what I want to talk over here .
In my view, there are two important reasons for the existence of this kind of reporting. On the one hand, the issuers, who always try to keep the circulation increasing, will gain more benefit if they put some information as attractive as possible on their products, most of which are tabloids. Regardless of spreading truth or just gossip without in-depth study ,the selling of the products is the all they focus on.On the other hand, sensationalized reporting is a so-called wise choise for some celebrities to hold or promote their popularity. For example, the royalties of some countries, such as Korea and England, usually spread the word through the medias about their life or behavior, which are the fair games always under public scrutiny, although sometimes they are just putting on a drama directed and acted by themselves.
A proverb says:“The masses have sharp eyes.”Depressingly, however, people usually prefer to keep an eye on superficial speculation which gives them shock
rather than the facts which keep them sober when facing alternatives. In one sense, some people without a clear head are willing to be chess pieces played by the issuers or celebrities. And that is the very fundamental cause of the existence of sensationalized reporting,I think. In a word,Medias are sugarcoaded, and people like sugars.
