Where There Is a “Robinson”, There Is a Way

--After Reading Robinson Cruse

Robinson Crusoe , the complete title being The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe ,is the famous novel, which was written by Daniel Defoe . In fact , I learned its Chinese version in my primary school . Our students were all told that Robinson was a great hero . He liked adventures and he overcame various difficulties to survive . These are just in my head .Today ,We have a opportunity to reread it in English Literature course. I have some new ideas.

The story of Robinson Crusoe can be divided into three parts: Robinson’s youth and the time up to his shipwreck ; his twenty-eight years on an isolated island ; his life after being rescued from the island.

The story happened in the middle of 17th century , in which English bourgeoisie was at its early stage of development . People desired to search for wealth . Robinson ,he was a typical representative . To acquire more fortune , he was at risk of his life to sail in the ocean. The story begun . He always wanted to go to sea and he succeed in going twice . But his father insisted that he shouldn’t do that .He want Robinson to inherit his wealth and live a peaceful life .In contrast , Robinson didn’t think so . He thought he should pursue his dream. It occurs to me that the major of us in modern society always are satisfied with current life .They wish they could acquire something without labor .Robinson’s behavior tells us that we should not be afraid hardship instead of being brave ,ambitious

and achieving our dreams.

The second part mainly tells us that how Robinson survived for 28 years in the uninhabited island . Of course ,he must have complained the unfair fate at that time ,but finally ,his confidence ,positive thought ,and the respect for life made him survive, He built house ; he trained goats for milk and meat ; he grew corns to make bread ; he dried the grapes etc. He was good at taking advantage of beneficial factors and overcame drawbacks . I can’t imagine that what should I do if I happened to meet with such thing . It right shows that only be calm and never give up do we continue our life . Now, when many people have some unimportant troubles ,they often are unhappy or even suicide . Compared with Robinson ,we are too weak . we should learn to be a strong-minded person . Besides , we should be thankful for the peaceful life now and value it. In story , he rescued Friday .Defoe beautifies colonialism and slavery . it is accepted in that century . As far as the single life on the island , I think he tried to be calm to make himself tolerate the loneliness , although he was eager to live colorful life . For us ,it is necessary to possess inner peace in heart in impetuous age .

The last part is about his return to England .He was rescued by a ship after 28 years .Everything had been changed .He made a large fortune and lived a peaceful life.

The story is over, but the spirit of Robinson lives in my heart forever . Where there is a will , there is a way . Robinson did it .The powerful weapon which can result in success is the characteristic . Robinson is a true hero. Where there is a

“Robinson”, there is a way.

In a word ,I am deeply affected by the Robinson spirit . I will follow Robinson example to pursue my dream . NO matter the trouble is , I will be brave to face it and overcome difficulties . Believe myself! Believe success!
