Henry David Thoreau was a renowned and intellectual writer, transcendentalist, and philosopher in America in nineteenth century. His writing style, political view, philosophic thinking and natural attitude have influence on so many different fields people who have benefit from his great contribution and bring excellent works for human beings. Although on the contemporary writers who envy and satirize him, which remarked “Thoreau behaves monstrous action and expresses stubborn opinion, he merely the follower of Emerson.” It does not obstruct my feeling of worship. Thoreau is my favorite author. Not only his remarkable knowledge and peace-loving political view, but also his personal charisma. He has a lot of good qualities. Such as self-reliance, hard-working, noble and free spirit, loving sports and life. If he lives in our twenty-first , I will be certain to follow and adore him. He must be my Mr. right. What a pleasant thing it is. I am encouraged by my idol to do something that I never bravely engage in .For instance, traving alone to old-growth forest and discovering the beauty of nature, or climbing the high

mountain and experiencing tiny and unassisted sense. It is an important thing that I will do.

Thoreau is my favorite writer. He bravely expresses his political view. He hates the colonial war but supports fair and justicial social atmosphere. He sets a good example in opposing the corrupt government. For example, resisting tax, proposing abolitionism. What a brave and upright citizen he is. And he advocates non-violence and noncooperation way to fight with the colonist and the governor. This method has an important influence on Indian leader Mohandas Karamchand gandth and Aframerican leader Martin luther King. As to religious view, he insists on extremely harsh religious rules. From good living people can know it. Such as never drinking, never smoking, and never eating meat. So all of evidences prove that he is an extreme protestant. It is strange thing that he never goes to church as a protaestant. Maybe because of his transcendentalism that human beings should belief in

self-trust and self-reliance whatever troubles they will meet on their life. And his most controversial thinking is philosophy view. He defines the relationship between human beings and nature that nature is closely linked with human. Man should unite the nature and become a member of nature. Everybody can think the meaning of life by communicating with nature. It is very pessimistic and wrong view that conquering and defeating nature through social modernization and human progress. Thoreau’s theory founds the milestone about modern ecological philosophy. As one all know that his philosophy view is relevant to his natural attitude. He thinks that man is a member of nature. Therefore it is our duty to harmony with nature. Men are not the master of nature. So men should not unlimitedly plunder resource of nature. If all of people love and protect our environment, nature will provide more beautiful and more comfortable environment for us. From his living style we can know that he seriously obey his natural view. He is willing to live a simple life. In his own that only this way can make him get a peaceful and halcyon mood. If people do not want to interrupt or

tempt by money and fame, this way can help them free from the trouble. That is to say, ”simplify, simplify, simplify” It is a wonderful experience that people alone to touch nature and perceive the promotion of our mental shackles.

Henry David Thoreau is my favorite writer. I can conclude so many advantages of him. First, he is a learned scholar. Because he writes different kind of works. Second, he is a responsible citizen help, he bravely expresses his political idea that publicly challenge the governor’s authority and has sympathy to the slave and poor people. Third, he is a conscientious environmentalist. He calls for live a simple life to protect environment. Not only can help people to love and shield nature, but also promote and purify human beings mental shackles. Last but not lest, I admire him because he bravely does everything he thinks it is right. Whatever other people mock or satirize him. He insists do the right and meaningful thing.
