一、 课程的地位、性质和任务
听力课是英语教学中四项基本技能之一,也是中国学生的一个难点。突破这个难关不仅有助于其它单项技能的训练,同时也为培养学生的英语交际能力奠定一个良好的基础。
英语初级听力的教学对象: 英语教育专业本科一、二年级学生。
听力课是英语专业的基础课,目的是系统地训练和培养学生的听说能力。听说能力是语言交际必不可少的手段之一,也是中学教学中课堂教学的重要体现。因此,培养具有一定听说能力并能用英语作为教学语言进行课堂教学的合格中学教师是师院英语专业听说课程教学目的之所在。
二、 课程教学的基本要求
听说教学的任务是进行专门的听说训练。其内容包括:容易混淆的音素、单词和句子结构,选择关键词,掌握重要细节,推测内在含义以及对数字时间地名方位等信息的快速反应等等。
具体的教学内容按学期分别为:
1. 第一学期采用英语初级听力和大学英语(修订本)第四册。新闻听力采用自己录制的VOA慢速英语的材料。
2. 第二学期采用英语听力入门2000第一册,英语初级听力和大学英语(修订本)第五册。新闻听力采用自己录制的VOA慢速英语的材料。
3. 第三学期采用英语听力入门第二册及部分第三册内容,英语中级听力和部分大学英语(修订本)第六册。新闻听力采用自己录制的VOA standard英语及少量的BBC材料。
4. 第四学期采用英语听力入门第三册及部分第四册内容,英语中级听力(续)和大学英语(修订本)第六册(续),部分专业四级考试相关内容。新闻听力采用自己录制的VOA standard英语及BBC材料。
三、 各章主要内容 、学时及教学要求
本课程共144学时,4学分。分四个学期开设,每学期周学时为2学时。听力课是一门综合了语音、词汇、语法、惯用法、背景知识、记忆以及概括能力的学科,它要求学生通过这门课的学习增长语言知识,提高语言技能以及扩大知识面。听力课不同于书面语教学,它要求学生注意力集中,养成良好的听力习惯,提高英语语感,包括音的辨别、句子结构的分析、内容的判断乃至短期和长期记

忆的提高等。本课程的具体要求如下:
A. 能听懂英语国家简易听力材料和英语国家人士所作的题材熟悉的讲话或日常生活交谈,抓住中心大意,理解主要内容。
B.能基本听懂VOA的慢速英语广播中的新闻和文化节目,理解大意。 C.一年级学生能听写根据已学内容编写或选用录音材料(120-150个词,语速为100词/分),错误率不超过10%
D. 能基本听懂VOA standard English 和BBC英语广播中的新闻和文化节目,理解大意。
E.二年级学生能听写根据已学内容编写或选用录音材料(120-150个词,语速为120词/分),错误率不超过10%

五、 教学方法的原则性建议
本课程作为基础课程,着重培养学生听的能力,但同时与语言学习的说读写息息相关,因此要求学生除了在课堂上及课余时间进行大量听的练习外,还要大量阅读各种题材的报刊书籍,扩大知识面和词汇量,同时,多与英语人士交往,适应不同口音和语言行为,在“说”中提高听的能力。
六、 测试方法
本课程的成绩主要由三部分组成:平时课堂表现、小测、期中考和期末考。单学期为考试科目,成绩为百分制。双学期为考查科,成绩为等级制,分别有优、良、中、及格和不及格等五级。
